Kiersten’s Background
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Baylor University, followed by teaching elementary school, which only made me want to dig deeper into lives of my students and families. I graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling as well as School Counseling. During this time I worked as a college & career coach for high school students. I have now been practicing for 8 years.
I performed my earliest work as a therapist with children and families in homes and schools. I learned the importance of working with the client’s systems, getting to the root of issues with the aid of schools and the courts. I became certified in Multisystemic Therapy (MST) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and soon began working solely with victims of sexual and physical abuse at a Children’s Advocacy Center.
Most recently, I counseled inmates at a county jail, where I gained a breadth of experience in the treatment of a variety of disorders, the majority being Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorders, PTSD, and Schizophrenia. My private practice has
I help my clients create ways of responding constructively to stressors and problems. Sometimes, we need to dive deep in order to gain the clarity we need, and sometimes we need more practical help in the short-term. Whatever you’re needing, I plan to be a proactive therapist for you or your child.
